CFT Spanish Proficiency Testing

Course Number: 021910

As the Hispanic population grows in our trade areas, it becomes increasingly important for us to reach out to this market. To effectively reach this market, financial institutions are increasing the number of Spanish speaking employees that they hire. Many have begun implementing salary increases for Spanish speaking skills. This pay increase is made available to any staff member or officer who routinely interacts with external customers. We can provide you with examples of such raises. CFT members have asked us to design a Spanish Language Proficiency Test to identify an employee’s financial language ability. The test has both written and verbal components.

How it works: Once a month, or every other month, your company offers all employees the opportunity to test for Spanish proficiency...this includes new-hires, first-time testers, people that want to retest because they failed the test previously, or people that obtained a proficiency level and want to reach a higher level.  They go online to take the written test and then call an 800# for the verbal portion.  Your company will be given a call-in schedule. Employees should wait at least 8 weeks to retake a test if they failed the first time and must obtain additional practice and/or complete a Spanish class. CFT has several levels of classes available.

A full report is sent to your Training/HR departments once all testing is completed. This report provides you with the level reached by the employee as well as recommendations for maintaining or improving skill levels. Due to the fact that language skills may be lost if they are not actively used, it’s recommended that you review the employee's skills annually and determine if retesting or refresher courses are necessary.

$50 per student.  Bank wide purchase with more than 25 employees purchased in 1 group for $1200 no expiration date.
